Invisalign System
The Invisalign system is a combination of proprietary virtual modeling software, rapid manufacturing processes and mass customization, and virtually clear, removable appliances or “aligners” that are used to straighten teeth.
The Invisalign system is prescribed to patients through trained Invisalign orthodontists or general practitioner dentists (GP dentists). Align provides clinical education programs and the tools needed for orthodontists or GP dentists to offer Invisalign treatment options in their practices. Although treatment time varies by patient, on average a patient requires one full year of treatment - equivalent to 24 sets of Invisalign aligners.
Used to treat a wide range of clinical situations, Invisalign treatment options address simple to complex cases and post-treatment retention. With enhanced features such as Precision Cuts, Power Ridge® and SmartForce® attachments and aligner features, the Align product family includes:
 |
 |
Align ’s foundation treatment option. Straightens teeth with a series of removable, virtually invisible aligners that provide a full spectrum of treatment options. |

Realine Entry-Level Clear Aligners – Exclusively Through Henry Schein Dental
Realine is a an entry-level, five-stage clear aligner product designed for cosmetic fixes and very minor crowding and spacing issues that general practitioner (GP) dentists see in their practices every day.
Realine offers non-Invisalign GP dentists a competitively-priced, easy to use product for patients with very limited treatment goals, especially adults whose teeth have shifted after adolescent orthodontic treatment.
Realine is available in the United States, exclusively through Henry Schein Dental, the world’s largest provider of health care products and services to office-based dental practitioners.
How Realine Works:
- The doctor orders a Realine Starter Kit directly from Henry Schein Dental. The kit includes a pre-paid Realine case, account setup information, a Quick Start guide, and marketing collateral.
- After receiving the Realine Starter Kit the doctor visits doctor.realine.com to set up an online account.
- The doctor collects patient records including three intra-oral photos and either an iTero intraoral dental scan or PVS dental impressions.
- The doctor submits the Realine prescription form and uploads the patient’s photos online and sends the patient’s iTero intraoral scan or PVS impressions to Align.
- Realine provides the doctor with a 3D view of treatment for review via a web-based tool. At this time the doctor may approve or cancel treatment. Once approved, the Realine aligners are custom manufactured and shipped directly to the doctor’s office. All subsequent Realine case submissions may be submitted directly online at doctor.realine.com and without additional Realine Starter Kits.
As part of the Realine product offering Henry Schein Dental will also offer Vivera Retainers, which includes four sets of new retainers to maintain final position.
iTero and iOC Intra-oral Scanning Systems and OrthoCAD Services
As the only scanner systems in the market to utilize parallel confocal imaging, the iTero and iOC systems utilize laser and optical scanning to capture the contours of the patient’s dentition, gingival structures and the bite. The scanners capture 100,000 points of laser light in perfect focus without the use of powder to coat the teeth which allows for contact of the wand and tooth, resulting in an accurate 3D digital impression – ready in just minutes for viewing on the screen.
The 3D digital model file can then be used for various procedures and services including milling of physical dental models for use by labs to create restorative units such as veneers, inlays, onlays, crowns, bridges, implant abutments and implant crowns; Invisalign digital impression submission; digital records storage; or orthodontic diagnosis and computer aided placement of traditional braces.
Both iTero and iOC intra-oral scanners consist of a mobile computer unit and scanning wand to scan and capture a patient’s dentition (full or partial dental arch). System software features include the eraser tool, edge trim tool, real-time modeling and option to submit scans for Invisalign treatment. Both the iTero and iOC scanning systems operate on an open architecture platform, providing doctors and labs with the ability to export custom and generic STL (stereolithography) files of their digital impression to use with other third party dental service providers. This allows the digital impression to integrate with cone beam CT images for implant and orthodontic treatment planning. Align provides in-office training on the system and features after the unit is delivered to the practice. The iTero and iOC scanners and OrthoCAD services include:
 |
The iTero scanner is used by general practitioner dentists, prosthodontists, periodontists, and oral surgeons and includes features for restorative procedures more commonly done in their practices such as veneers, inlays, onlays, crowns, bridges and implants, from single units to full arches. |
 |
 |
An accurate physical model and dies are milled based on the digital scan and sent to the laboratory of the dentist’s choice for completion of the needed restoration unit. The laboratory also has the ability to export the STL file for immediate production of coping and restorations on their laboratory CAD/CAM systems. The laboratory conducts the ceramic buildup and delivers the end result—a precisely fitting restoration. iTero prosthetics have a near-zero rejection rate, which, in the past, would result in costly and time-consuming remakes. |
